*CW / MCW
This places the TNC into either the CW or MCW modes. The
speed will track the received signal. Default speed is 20
wpm. On the MFJ-1278 there are two options.
CW This provides a normal On/Off type of keying for
the radio. This output is taken from the TNC and
applied to the keying input of the radio.
MCW The MCW command provides an 800 hertz tone that
can be applied through the microphone jack on the
radio.
NOTE On the AEA PK232 both audio and direct keying are
available from the TNC when operating in the CW
mode. To change transmit speeds for the AEA use
the ALT Minus and Alt Plus keys.
*Signal Ident ( ALT Q )
This will place the TNC into either the "ASA" (1278) or the
"SIGNAL" (PK232) mode of operation. Use to determine what
type of signal is being received.
For the AEA PK232 Host mode the user may go to the displayed
mode by pressing the F9 key. The program will select the
baud rate that is nearest the displayed rate. It will also set
transmit and receive inversions accordingly.
*Log Book
Calls the external logbook program for XPCOM written by
Larry Winslow, W0NFU.
*Log Info
Call the XPINFO program by Larry Winslow, W0NFU. This
program can be used to keep running notes on various
QSOS. These notes are kept by callsign. Think of
it as an on-line ROLODEX / Card File.
To exit XPINFO press the ESC Key.
XPINFO is overlaid on the XPCOM receive window to make
it easier to enter notes on a particular station. When
exit XPINFO, the screen data will be copied to the XPCOM
window. This data however will not be added to the SCROLL
Back Buffer.
Please note that this is an EXTERNAL program and receive
data from the TNC will halt while you are using XPINFO.
*Log Find
Uses the logger program to find previous QSO's for the station
that you currently are connected with in Packet or the
station call sign that has been entered into the F2 box.
This will return automatically back to XPCOM after a few
moments or press the ESC key to exit.
The space bar may be used to review previous QSO if desired.
*Log Browse
This invokes the external log program by W0NFU. This
will search the log using the current call in F2. The
will be displayed from the newest entry to the oldest.
To edit an entry highlight that entry and press the
Enter key. After editing or browsing you will be returned
to XPCOM.
